Spiderlings and other creatures in Prism Vale.
About Spiderlings:
Spiderlings are arachnid-like creatures. They come in a variety of shapes, colours and sizes and can be found all over Prism Vale, though they are most commonly encountered in the mysterious caverns of the Giant Canyon of Azul Island. Spiderlings are not inherently evil or malicious creatures as some young beanlings would expect. They are mostly neutral beings that live in the more secluded areas of Prism Vale, they are generally shy creatures, usually opting to hide when spotted. Their reputation for being evil comes from the fact that a lot of their kind has been infected with the Corruption that broke out on Azul Island. They are somewhat weak-minded which is what made it easy for them to become infected. The infection causes the spiderlings to become highly aggressive, which is why so many adventurers report being attacked by them in the Giant Canyon. They eyes are a useful ingredient in many potions, particularly potions that cause changes. It is not recommend to take a spiderling as a familiar if you are an adventurer as they have an increased risk of being corrupted or killed for their eyes.
About Slimes:
Slimes are another common creature found all over Prism Vale. They are generally considered harmless and most are neutral in nature. They come in a variety of shapes, colours and sizes, though they are all notably transparent. Like the spiderlings, slimes are at high risk of being infected by the Corruption, especially if they are on Azul Island. Slimes that have been infected become aggressive and often try to engulf unsuspecting beanlings. The effect is technically harmless, but unless someone can cut them out or absolve the slime, a beanling can be stuck inside a slime for a very long time. Most slimes have items stuck inside them that they have climbed over, notably the slimes of the Giant Canyon are known to have treasure inside them. This is not a deliberate decision as slimes are not particularly intelligent, but some slimes can become very beautiful as items like gemstones and flowers become stuck in them. Some cities like to keep pretty slimes around as a living decoration with people feeding them pretty things. They are not recommended as a familiar if you are an adventurer, but are great familiars for artists.
Other Creatures in Prism Vale:
Prism Vale is home to many wonderful creatures both mundane and magical. You can find cats and dogs roaming the streets, an assortment of colourful birds in the trees and cows and sheep on the farms. You can also find strange and other-worldly creatures like dragons, unicorns, griffons and more. Almost all the creatures are good or neutral in nature with the odd exception of those that have been infected by the Corruption. Many of the creatures show signs of intelligence and some have been awakened allowing them the same intelligence as a beanling.
