General Submissions Tally Guide

This guide is to help you determine how many beayns your Beanling or Blightling related creation can receive. Each submission will receive a base of 1 bean as a reward which is automatically applied and does not need to be tallied. Examples pieces and their tallying are at the end of each section.

A Few notes about guidelines

You can submit as many or as few pieces as you like at a time! We simply ask that you include each individual piece’s tally in your submission’s comment. The exception to this being writing, which we would prefer to be tallied all together, giving us a total word count.

Remember that Beanling Patch is intended to be pg 13! So if your piece contains more than mild gore, violence, language, or adult themes, please note it in the very top of your submission and include trigger warnings. Do not post it to the official Beanling Patch site, Deviantart Group, or Discord galleries without permission from the moderators.

A Few notes about permissions

You are more than welcome to collaborate on pieces submitted to the Beanling Patch unless the specific prompt states otherwise! All users who collaborate will receive the full rewards of the piece, but must submit it individually.

We encourage gifting pieces and including other people’s characters in your pieces as long as you have permission to do so! If you are using another person’s beanling or blightling, they must have the appropriate permissions turned on in their masterlist profile, or you have express written permission from the owner, which must be linked in your submission.

We also encourage the use of non Beanling Patch related characters. That being said, Beanlings, Blightlings and their familiars are the only self-aware characters currently allowed inside of Prism Vale. They are, of course, often found outside of Prism Vale with their non-Beanling Patch friends and wishers. Please also keep the rules of any other closed species in mind when creating with their characters.

Every submission to the Beanling Patch should include at least one Beanling, Blightling, official masterlist familiar, or be a representation of a specific location in Prism Vale.

Defining a Character:

For our submission purposes, a character is considered any self-aware creature, or the pet of one. Characters should have a distinct physical appearance or personality that allows them to be individually recognizable. Ie, not just a generic animal with no defining traits. This is not to say they can’t be simple, just that they should be unique!

Tallying Visual Art Rewards

For ease of understanding, we have separated the tallies for visual art between Characters and Backgrounds. You can submit pieces that are just characters, just backgrounds, or a combination of the two!

Minimal shading, for our purposes, is shading that is not present in your whole piece. For example, a single gradient or a few shadows here and there.
Full shading, for our purposes, is shading with a defined lightsource/s that you can see throughout the whole piece.

For tallying things such as animation, we consider each hand-drawn frame as an individual piece. If you are using software that makes in-betweens for you, please refer to crafting for your tallies. Comics are also counted as each individual panel being a piece, with the word count tallied separately.

Like Characters, Backgrounds rewards are determined by the level of finishing you’ve done in the artwork. Unlike characters, backgrounds can gain additional rewards by including structures. Small structures are considered any kind of structure that cannot house a bean. For example, fences, wells, wheelbarrows, signposts, and more. Medium structures are anything that could house a bean, such as sheds, flower houses, large shrines, and more. Large structures are buildings that can house many beans, or outshots of multiple structures. For example, a town square, palace, guild house, school, and more. For a structure to count, it must be mostly visible; ie. the corner of a house poking out of the side of your piece will not count for a medium structure.

Tallying Writing Rewards

We accept all kinds of writing here in the Beanling Patch! That includes poetry, roleplay, prose, basically anything you can come up with that uses words! Submissions must be a minimum of 200 words. We accept writing hosted on all platforms, it just has to be viewable by the moderators!

Writing:

Every 500 words + 1 beayn

Other person’s character + 1 beayn

Example:

2 other user’s characters: 2 beayns

Total Tally: 3 beayns

Tallying Craft Rewards

Crafting is anything you physically make or digitally model or animate. The process for tallying up crafting rewards is different from all other submissions, as it is tallied by time spent. To submit a craft, you must take screenshots or real life pictures of your progress throughout the process, logging when you start and end working during each session of your crafting. This does not have to be extremely precise, but we do ask that you keep your logs honest and realistic. Each hour spent on your craft earns you 1 bean in reward.
If you create the craft for another user, and they physically (or digitally in the case of modeling or animation) receive your craft, you will receive double your tallied rewards. The user receiving the gifted craft must validate they received your craft, which can be done with a screenshot or comment from the user.
