Instead, another flowerling happened upon him during her gathering. Arwen is a collector and keeper of dreams, and Starfall is a busy season for someone like her. As she scavenged for fallen stars, their paths crossed, and Barren made a comment about how he'd never seen a blue star before. Curious, Arwen peered into the dream using her specialized magic, and saw the image of the flowerling in front of her being a gruff but caring guardian for many young beans.
Touched by the scene, Arwen decided that she was intrigued by Barren. From then on, the two could often be found near one another. Arwen has a confidence and understanding that few other beans tend to keep around Barren's gruff nature, and her immunity to his unintentional intimidation makes her someone whose friendliness seems to catch him by surprise often.
